Tony Yanow Plans Golden Road Brewery; Taberna Mexicana Opens June 27th

Beverly Hills: Taberna Mexicana has set an opening date of June 27th on North Bedford Drive. Here chef Alex Padilla will introduce a menu influenced by The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation in Houston. [Grub Street]
Culver City: If you can’t catch Cafe Laurent at home, try to spot their crossaints at the Mar Vista farmers market. [Culver City Patch]
Downtown: Charcoal Grill has closed after just about a year of serving questionable Mexican food. [Eater]
Fairfax Village: Jamie Lauren has signed on to design the menu at a forthcoming spot called VodVil. [Eater]

Glendale: Tony Yanow is planning a brewery called Golden Road with a brewmaster from DogFish Head. While we champion the use of cans for the new beer, so far, the building is rather yellow, meaning the name and beer aren’t the only things making us need to pee. [Drink Eat Travel via Eater]
Hollywood: Soi 56 closed following service this past Saturday. In July, owner Katy Noochlaor will open a new concept called District 13 in the same space. Noochlaor is considering opening Soi 56 in Thai Town later this year. [Grub Street]
-Curtis Nysmith is also shutting down operations at Capitol City to start Three-Dog Cantina, with a supposedly big-time chef (gosh, Bayless will work anywhere these days). Because a party-ready Mexican spot with frozen margaritas is really what the boulevard lacks. Ugh. [Eater]
MacArthur Park: Head here for Guatemalan food from a mobile kitchen…and a fake ID. [Street Gourmet L.A.]
Santa Monica: New regulations on food trucks will be discussed tomorrow in a city council meeting. [SM Mirror]
-Bruce Marder’s Red Rooster Bakery is now open for freshly made baked goods. [Eater]
Venice: Bondi BBQ is being replaced by Cairo Cowboy Mediterranean Grill. Too bad the spot didn’t get a cooler name. [Yo! Venice!]
West Hollywood: Jet Tila’s Bistronomics 3.0 will be held on August 1st at BreadBar Third Street, with chef Alex Ageneau preparing a five-course dinner titled” Summer in L.A.” [Grub Street]
-Another location of Joe’s Pizza has opened up, making Wilcox resemble a “NYC West,” says Zach Brooks. [Midtown Lunch]
Westwood: Oh no! Some jokers have started a food delivery service called “Ching-Chong-Ling-Long.” Or maybe the joke is in this menu. [Squid Ink]
