On the heels of last week's sobering report that deemed Palms' Brazilian restaurant Zabumba in "dire financial shape," following the 2010 murder of its owner Monica Beresford-Redman, Contra Costa Times tells us the restaurant is going into the possession of its landlord this week, stymieing repeated attempts by the sisters of the slain woman to purchase the business.

Owed an estimated $23,000 in unpaid rent, a judge granted ownership to the unnamed landlord, despite a previous court order that gave the sisters rights to run the space. Even the fixtures could possibly be sold to pay the contested back rent, while Monica's sisters are still interested in leasing the restaurant that they've helped keep afloat with the help of their parents, and before his arrest and holding for possible extradition back to Mexico, Bruce Beresford-Redman, the former Survivor producer suspected of murdering his wife. We'd hoped to see the sisters, for once, win something they wanted in this case, so let's hope they manage to keep Zabumba running in some form or another.
