Last month we told you all about Root Beer Joe’s, the new sandwich and pop shop in Pasadena. Sadly, we see a Craigslist ad today putting Joe’s on the auction block, hoping to “sell the restaurant cheap to make a quick sale to someone who has a good credit score.” Indeed both the photo and address correspond with Root Beer Joe’s. But before we shed any corn-syrupy tears, we called the restaurant to learn that owner Joe Wong is currently on vacation. We asked the friendly voice whether the restaurant was indeed up for sale, just in case some scamming saboteurs were responsible for a false posting. She confirmed that the space is for sale, but when we asked if they would be closing, she back-tracked through a series of stumbly “ums” to say that, she wasn’t actually sure of anything and was “just an employee.” Stay tuned!
