Over the weekend, Ricardo Zarate’s Picca opened up its upstairs mezzanine; a funky bar nook of cow-hide and shag ottomans under a red-hot “EMERGENCY” sign that will help ease the flow of the restaurant’s walk-in policy that holds 50% of the entire space for diners without reservations. To sweeten the new room, Zarate has introduced a new late-night special called “The $25 Treat” that offers diners the choice of three items from the causa or anticucho menus (Zarate recently told us he’d like to introduce alpaca meat to the restaurant!) with a cocktail or glass of wine for $25, running Monday through Thursday 9:00 P.M. to midnight and Friday and Saturday 9:30 P.M. to midnight at the mezzanine bar.
