Scenes from The Taste: "Taco Tequila Tryst"

Thanks to chef Roy Choi and Street Gourmet L.A., The Taste's Saturday night "Taco Tequila Tryst" avoided being a mere selection of what the latter referred to as "gabacherias," with authentic Mex coming from the likes of Antojitos Carmen, Bajamar Seafood, Mariscos Chente, Antojito's Sofiy, and Birreria Flor del Rio, along with a few stalwart spots like Chichen Itza and Guelaguetza representing L.A.'s regional Mexican restaurants. While tacos were in abundance, with everything from MexiKosher's sweetbreads tacos to Kogi classics to a blueberry chicken taco from Worldwide Tacos, the tequila landscape was unfortunately drier than the desert, save for a few scattered shot samples and a bar serving Hornito's, for anyone looking to bid "luego" to their stomach lining.
