On Friday evening, The Annenberg Beach House set the scene for Localicious, a gala tasting event that helped crown the five-day, 30th anniversary celebration of the Santa Monica Farmers Market. A strong addition to our budding battalion of food events, Localicious served to highlight the primary forces that make Santa Monica, and so much of greater L.A., the dynamic restaurant city that it is, uniting impeccably ripe fruits and vegetables from prized farmers with chefs known for their dedication to the seasons. Like one massive farm-to-table dinner collaboration, 30 chefs were each paired with a specific farm to conceive of one dish that reveled in peak produce, with peaches and tomatoes leading the pack. Check out some of the night's best-received dishes and hard-at-work chefs in this slideshow look at Localicious, an event that could (and should) turn into a local institution.
