More Bavarians at the gate and this time it's the biggest thing to hit Lincoln Boulevard since Whole Foods began its reign. Wurstküche's new Venice location briefly cracked the doors for friends and family over the weekend, and today Venice Patch announces the public debut of Wurstküche Venice, coming tomorrow at 5:00 P.M. What's in store here, besides a major rush of people?

The space is similarly industrial to Joseph Pitruzzelli and Tyler Wilson's original, as is the output of exotic sausages like the famous rattlesnake and rabbit, along with Belgian fries, a long line of 24 draft beers, curated bottled beers, and a choice of eaux de vie fruit brandies. The best development appears to be two outdoor nooks, one for drinking and one for dining.

Wednesday's opening should see a dramatic impact on Lincoln, and naturally, the owners feel the transformation coming themselves. We see it too, of course, as do the forces behind booming Oscar's and Venice Beach Wines on Rose, the owners of The Erwin, Casey Lane, and not long from now, a whole gaggle of assorted groups who portend to further the culinary development and/or glam gentrification of Venice.

Pitruzzelli himself says, "There is a lot of potential for this area." But a Venice location almost wasn't in the cards at first, as the owners apparently considered an out-of-state outpost prior to landing in this block-long, angled brick building, revealing possible future ambitions for their empire.

In the meantime, Lincoln should have its hands very full come 5:00 P.M. tomorrow, when Wurstküche cuts ribbon on the often traffic-choked street and takes it back to the brat and beer that started it all. Prepare for the coming hordes!

Wurstküche Venice will be open from 5:00 P.M. to midnight, this Wednesday through Sunday. Starting this Monday, the restaurant will be open from 11:00 A.M. to midnight daily.

Wurstküche Venice, 625 Lincoln Blvd. Venice.
