ChocoVivo, Patricia Tsai’s two-year-old small batch chocolate company that pops up regularly at various L.A. farmers markets (always a popular stand at Mar Vista’s market), is preparing a new storefront on Abbot Kinney, to debut in about two weeks, according to owners. The philosophy here is chocolate “from bean to bar,” which Chocovivo lives up to by working with its own grower in Tabasco, Mexico, stone-grinding select, fermented beans every week, and committing to whole cacao nibs, farmers market fruit, and whole spices in dark chocolate bars (65-100% cacao), blended bars in flavors like almond and sea salt and coffee and vanilla, and chocolate powder.

The result is pure, whole chocolate, with no addition of milk or butter or other additives. The store might be planned as a pop-up at first, as per ChocoVivo’s Facebook page, though the possibility of this standing as a more permanent residence is certainly on the table. Look for an opening soon on Abbot Kinney.
