Sam Sifton Lands in Los Angeles, Makes Ed Hardy Joke

At large in L.A.

Former New York Times restaurant critic and current national editor Sam Sifton landed in Burbank yesterday straight from New York, enjoying Mozza’s squid-ink chitarra that we pushed in our Pasta Porn slideshow for dinner. Yep, we’ve been glued to the Sifter’s Twitter feed all morning, enjoying as he bangs his head to Slayer and wondering where he’ll eat next. Unfortunately, Sifton wastes no time in offending a few of his L.A. adherents, as his second SoCal tweet claims, “This Ed Hardy outlet on Melrose explains a great deal,” drawing a few backfires from fans. Oh well, maybe he has Hollywood pegged wrong, but with only an hour to go before lunchtime, we’ll still be tuned to see where Sam plans lunch today. [Sam Sifton Twitter]
