Unfortunately, this past Saturday's planned "Winterfest" leg of the beer event ColLAboration was postponed until the new year, as organizers feared winter winds might whip the crowd before their alcohol-powered weather-shields were enabled**. In a statement, co-founder and Mohawk Bend/Tony's Darts Away owner Tony Yanow says, "We are extremely upset...to postpone our Winter Fest, but the comfort and safety of our customers is of the utmost priority to us. We have yet to get our electricity back due to this week’s fierce Santa Ana winds and we simply cannot take the chance that we will not have electricity tomorrow during our event." However, for beer-lovers foaming at the mouth for the two new beers that were scheduled to debut from Yanow's Golden Road Brewing, there is some good news.
Tomorrow night, as part of Tony's Darts Away's holiday plan to condition every Tuesday in December with a different beer-intensive event, Tony’s is hosting Yanow's own Golden Road Brewing for the evening. The new Atwater brewery will debut its two holiday beers starting at 6:00 P.M.: a "Rye on the Palate," rye-forward red ale, and a velvety, Irish-style nitro stout called "Schwartz Stout."
The following Tuesday, Tony's will offer eight various winter brews for $20 (including Lost Coast's Winterbraun, Port Santa's Little Helper, and Lost Abbey Gift of the Magi), while the subsequent week will offer twelve special beers from Redlands' Hangar 24, like cask-conditioned chocolate porter brewed with maple syrup and a barrel-aged imperial stout.
December 6th, 13th, and 20th, 6:00 P.M. to closing, at Tony's Darts Away, 1710 W. Magnolia Blvd. Burbank. 818-253-1710.
