Like much of the world, Hollywood’s The Spare Room plans to celebrate Boxing Day with a booze-laden bacchanal. Starting at 7:00 P.M. on December 26th, $10 at the door gains you entry to enjoy three punch recipes served sans bottom, live and DJ’d music, a few nibbles, and, at the risk of sounding like Stefon, Jenga and hobo jazz. Need a date?
Helping you cross “dating a bartender” off your bucket list (and possibly, your first trip to the free clinic), eight of the city’s best bartenders will be auctioned off as dates, including Aidan “Neat” Demarest, Marcos Tello, and Lacey Murillo. Spare Room bartender Naomi Schimek, the host of the event, tells Grub Street that no one will be turned away for lack of funds, as long as they bring a blanket, sleeping bag, or warm clothes as a donation, as proceeds for the event are going to Downtown’s Hospitality Kitchen.
