Angel’s Is Losing Its Wings in Santa Monica

Santa Monica’s make-believe speakeasy Angel’s will be shutting its doors at the end of the month after two and a half years, with owners telling us the last day of service will be on January 31st. The team, which also controls Venice’s actual old speakeasy, Townhouse, and the subterranean Del Monte, announce the closure in an email, saying, “Friends! It has been grand but the time has come to say farewell. The final evening of business for Angel’s will be Tuesday, January 31st.”

Small Angel’s provided a sexy atmosphere with good drinks and cooking, varied live entertainment, and a pocket packedwith groovy ideas, sadly none of which seemed to stick.

The lounge is inviting everyone to come by for a drink in the next week before the shutter, and though Angel’s won’t likely resemble the final days of Angeli, we’ll be there to pour a shot of absinthe out onto Wilshire Boulevard as its death comes creeping, while thanking the supper club deities that Harvelle’s never suffered this same fate.
