Downtown’s Kitchen Table has been a project under wraps on the same block as Pete’s Cafe for a long while now, a period that has seen Josef Centeno’s Baco Mercat open up next door to critical and customer praise. The restaurant’s owner, Ray, who also owns and operates Old Bank District Market across the street, tells Grub Street an opening is finally expected in about two weeks, due for a restaurant space sure to be a charmer, if the cream and coffee-colored outside appearance is any indication. Who will do the cooking here?

Chef Greg Barr, an alum of Church & State, among other restaurants, will be cooking French bistro food here, lead by the market and bulking up Downtown’s current top ranking as Bistroville ( joining Le Comptior, Church & State, Perch, and Walter Manzke’s coming Republique, to name a few prominent Frenchies). A website is currently brewing behind the scenes, while last minute sidewalk construction is being completed to make sure guests don’t trip over their Louboutins.
