Schulzies Bread Pudding Takes Over Del’s Lemonade Space in Venice

Another sweet-specific business is overtaking the space once briefly occupied by Del’s Lemonade, the frozen soft drink specialist who tried to bring Rhode Island’s favorite summertime relief to our shores. The small corner strip mall space is now making way for Schulzies, a bread pudding maker with over 108 recipes and a location on the Venice Boardwalk as well as a new presence in San Francisco.

Sarah Schulz is bringing this bakery she started at home, which was once featured on Food Network’s Sugar Rush, to the budding boulevard, along with all her bread pudding flavors like Millie Vanillie Bean, peanut butter and chocolate, Apple Sauce Sass, Root Beer My Dear!, and in case anyone misses Del’s, even a Pink Lemonade Parade bread pudding, which are typically available in groups of fifteen at a time, changing almost every day.

Perhaps more importantly, in a part of town where people will wait longer for a little cup of coffee than they’re willing to slog it out on the 10 Freeway, Schulzies serves fresh drip Blue Bottle coffee, which last made an appearance in Venice at the now defunct Equator Books. While we’re partial to the bread pudding at nearby Baby Blues BBQ, surely we can find something out of 108 flavors to float our boats. And hey, it’s probably a much safer gamble than a frozen lemonade stand in January.
