Last night, Tony Riviera, owner of Caffe Primo, grand-opened a new osteria called Luigi in the former home of Burger Kitchen. A straight-forward Italian menu kicks off with burrata caprese and wild mushroom polenta, includes salads starring goodies like farro, quinoa, roasted pear with gorgonzola, and roasted beets, but is primarily dominated by a long list of pastas, including spaghetti with veal and pork meatballs, linguine with crab and Fresno chiles, nine meatless selections, and a tempting spaghetti with slow-cooked Dutch oven short ribs, all with offerings of wine and beer. Riviera plans to open Luigi strictly for dinner this week, adding brunch this Sunday, then launching lunch on Monday. Take a peek at both the space and food menus in our slideshow look into Luigi.
