The L.A. Times reports that the Drago dynasty's Giacomo Drago will replace his Il Buco this Thursday with a new pan-Italian project called A1 Cucina Italiana. To spend more time focusing on his emerging 90210 Japanese concept, Yojisan Sushi, Drago is gracing A1 with partner Danilo Terribili, once the co-owner of West Hollywood's now-defunct Alto Palato, who will work with that restaurant's former chef, Fredy Escobar, in bringing A1 to life. What will the two be serving?

The duo are carving out a place for traditional Italian cooking that spans the whole Boot, all at a price point that doesn't vault over $23 for the highest-priced entrees and includes handmade pastas and daily regional specials, including porchetta come Saturdays.

Apparently, signage for the restaurant is already due today on Robertson, while the grand debut arrives Thursday, following yesterday's shutter of Il Buco. Dinner will be served daily, while lunch will be ready on weekdays. It's a quick turnaround, albeit with a seasoned team in place.
