It sounds like Hollywood ditched its Champagne wishes and caviar dreams this year to get down with the kind of grimy foods the rest of us usually crave: pizza, sliders, and macaroni and cheese. Yep, comfort food ruled the night following yesterday's Academy Awards as Wolfgang Puck offered assembled nominees and statue winners at The Governor's Ball things like pizza, mac and cheese, and sandwiches, in place of his traditional formal dinner.
Vanity Fair also worked its way into celebrity hearts on the fast-casual tip, providing In-N-Out burgers and fried mac-and-cheese balls for guests like David Beckham, Tom Cruise, and J.Lo.
Meanwhile, over at Elton John's annual HIV and AIDS fund-raiser, Cat Cora cooked a decidedly less casual spread of beef tenderloin and sea bass with pepper-saffron sauce for 900-plus assembled guests. According to Fox, Cora joked about kissing Katy Perry shortly before sauntering over and planting one on the singer's cheek. The smooch might have been an attempt to placate Perry, who had just lost her bid for a cooking class taught by Cora for ten guests. The winner, New York Giants owner Steve Tisch, is paying $100,000 for the prize. In total, Elton John raised $5.25 million for his eponymous AIDS foundation through both the auction and dinner.
