Walter Manzke Lending a Hand to Short Cake's Lunch Menu
Good news for anyone who can't wait for Walter Manzke to open Downtown's Republique (which might be everyone by now). Nancy Silverton's Short Cake is soon to release a full lunch menu, featuring a selection of savory tartines designed by a power-trio including Silverton, Short Order chef Christian Page, and Manzke himself. Currently, the bakery offers lunch items like savory scones and crossaints, quiche with bacon, leek, and comte, and bun bread pudding with spinach and 'shrooms, while gluten-free items are also coming Short Cake's way in the near future. Update: A rep says of Manzke's collaboration with Silverton and Page, "Our goal is to have the menu ready to launch in 10-14 days. Right now all three are still working on perfecting the final tartine products."
