The Omni Parker House Celebrates the Titanic

Remember when?
Remember when?

It’s not every restaurant that has the whimsy to celebrate the anniversary of a sinking ship, but the Omni Parker House has been around for so long that they can do pretty much whatever they want. If you’re inspired by the type of place that your grandmother might praise for a “very nice relish tray,” pull up a seat.

On the very proper menu: Oyster à la Russe & Oyster Rockefeller (Hors D’oeuvres), Consommé Olga (Potage), Salmon with Mousseline Sauce & Cucumber (Poisson), Sauté of Chicken, Lyonnais (Entree), Sirloin of Beef, Château Potatoes, Green Peas (Releve), Roast Squab & Cress (Punch Romaine), Asparagus Vinaigrette Pâté de Fois Gras (Froid), and Peaches in Chartreuse Jelly, andChocolate & Vabukka Eclair, and French Vanilla Ice cream (Entremets).

The ten-course extravaganza happens on April 14, and it’s $95 per person. Contact the restaurant if you’re feeling frisky. We’re kind of intrigued; it’s a nice more-retro-than-thou counterpoint to the oodles of Mad Men celebrations going on all over town. [AH]
