Five L.A. pastry chefs are teaming up for one night at BreadBar called “Sweet & Savory,” a charity dinner that finds Fonuts founder Waylynn Lucas and Providence’s David Rodriguez joining Top Chef: Just Desserts contestant Carlos Enriquez and Puur Chocolat’s Ramon Perez, in addition to Matsuhisa’s Kei Hasegawa and bartender Devon Espinoza for a ten-course dinner that benefits Share Our Strength.

On March 22, the five chefs will get together and each prepare a savory and sweet course, the first of several pop-ups planned along this same theme, which promises sweet elements appearing in the savory dishes and vicey versy. Like our recent slideshow of national desserts, the pop-up is intended to showcase the varied skills of long-overlooked pastry chefs, who BreadBar’s website refers to as “the red headed step child of the culinary industry.” Reservations for the $95 dinner can be secured at 310-277-3770. Dinner starts with cocktails at 6:30 P.M.
