Last week, we told you Evan Malone and Jill Weber hit a snag in the run-up to opening their Southern-inspired Rex 1516 on South Street. Turns out that hitch was a flubbed health inspection. But don’t get skeeved out just yet. It wasn’t critters or filth that foiled their opening, it was a pesky matter of their dishwasher being off a few degrees and the lack of a no smoking sign. Now it seems as if all is good, and Malone and Weber will finally start seating guests The sent word today that they will be open for business at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Meanwhile just a few blocks away, Healthy Bites To Go, former “Next Food Network Star” contestant, Katie Cavuto’s healthy foods market and cafe at 25th and Christian, is closing. Cavuto dropped this bummer on the Healthy Bites website today, saying that she wants to devote more time to being a mother and on her forthcoming cookbook. Healthy Bites will continue offering nutrition services, meal delivery and catering. Its the only the market and cafe that will shut down. And Cavuto will continue teaching cooking classes and penning her column for PhillyMag’s Be Well Philly. Healthy Bites’ last day is March 18.
