Praise be to sacred Thaleia that April Fool’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, sparing us all those inevitable fake restaurant headlines (“Animal Going Vegan,” hardy har…). That being said, a whole animal pop-up is planned this Sunday at Urbano Pizza Bar, with fun on the mind, but benefiting a serious cause. The Downtown restaurant is welcoming Wood & Vine chef Gavin Mills to cook alongside chef Bruce Kalman at “Two Chefs, A Pig, and a Beer (Chick),” with proceeds from the $50 entry going to children’s cancer charity Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

The chefs are procuring their porker from ReRide Ranch in Lake Hughes, known for its acorn-fed, free-range Berkshire pigs and milk-fed blue butts, while beers will be paired by Beer Chicks Christina Perozzi and Hallie Beaune.

The duo will cook a feast of multiple courses, interspersing each with a little breakdown of what they’re doing with the various cuts and parts, including some dishes promised to be “weird and wild” by a press release. Also volunteering their time alongside chefs and staff will be farmers from Thao Farms, Coleman Farms, and Weiser Farm, who will provide the chefs with some perfect produce and offer some points to the crowd.

$50 allows guests all food and beverage at the 4:00 P.M. feast. Reservations can be obtained at 213-614-1900 or via email.
