West 4th and Jane, Santa Monica's Corner Bistro-influenced New York-style pub, announces the appointment of chef Ryan Turner to its executive chef position. A Portland native, Turner came to L.A. after locavore-driven stints back home and in San Francisco, to join Marina del Rey's Vu as a sous chef to Kyle Schutte, a chef he cites as a huge influence on his classic and contemporary fusion. Turner is putting new dishes on the menu like wild boar ribs, a spatezle mac and cheese, and calamari frites, which the public is invited to come in and try, alongside some beer samples, on May 9 at 7:00 P.M. West 4th and Jane has also introduced a few new tricks, like a daily happy hour from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. and daily deals like Monday's burgers and beers (both included for $10) and Wednesday Pint Night (free pint glass with every beer bought off draft). 1432 4th St. Santa Monica.
