Next Thursday, May 3, an event called "In the Art of The City" will bring a powerful lineup of chefs together with famous actors, musicians, and visual art at Saint Vibiana's Cathedral to benefit A Better L.A., a non-profit geared towards dissolving the causes of violence and homicide in our inner-city hoods. A host committee including Jeffrey Deitch, actors Regina King and Forest Whitaker, and uh, Keisha have brought Joachim Splichal on-board to organize an incredibly promising dinner lead by a serious selection of kitchen talents. Who will be there?
David Feau of The Royce, Drago Centro's Ian Greslik, Josiah Citrin, Celestino and Giacomino Drago, Kris Morningstar, Nick + Stef's Megan Logan, John Sedlar, Nickel Diner's Monica May, and Mas Malo's Robert Luna are all scheduled to offer dishes of their own, while the whole affair will be emceed by Cheech Marin.
In addition, the night also includes a live auction of artworks (including pieces by the great MEAR1 and Tim Biskup) lead by Sharon Stone, along with DJs like Pharcyde's Fatlip and Adam 12, African drummers from Leimert Park, flamenco from East L.A., and the Crenshaw High School Gospel Choir.
With a $1,000 to $100,000 cost for tables, chances are the fun is out of most of our price ranges. However, after the show comes the after-party, a fiesta kicking off at 9:30 P.M. with $80 tickets for general admission and $40 tickets for students. See full details online.
