Up in Sausalito, local TV chef Joanne Weir just opened her first Mexican restaurant, Copita, with the help of restaurateur Larry Mindel (Poggio). They debuted to a waiting crowd on Saturday night after a few nights of test dinners, and Weir says she’s thrilled with the response so far (the official opening day is tomorrow, May 1). We’ve got the menu for you below, which includes 24-hour-braised carnitas, a delicious and juicy wood-oven roasted chicken, as well as some deep-fried, Mexico-city style quesadillas stuffed with potato, chorizo, and queso fresco. And don’t forget there’s a huge tequila selection.

The restaurant, in fact, was inspired by Weir’s book, Tequila: A Guide to Types, Flights, Cocktails and Bites, so the cocktails are definitely a high priority..

Also, for those trying to be healthy, you’ll be happy to know they’re serving one of the best, non-fried versions of a fish taco we’ve had, with seared halibut and pickled cabbage. See it all below.
