Remember Excalibur? The (probably awesome) medieval restaurant in Downtown tells us they have a new executive chef in ye olde royale kitchen: Lord Alfred Wellington the Fifth of Mumford. We kid, we kid. It’s actually a dude named Beni Velázquez, a former Four Seasons chef and the founder of Bar+Bistro in Las Vegas. Velázquez is already re-tooling the menus here, adding weekend brunch of blackberry currant French toast and three-cheese quiche, and swears he’s having a blast melding market ingredients and fish from Santa Monica Seafood market with the sword and sorcery theme.
