Yo! Venice! spreads the news that Dry Tour Wine Bar and Restaurant will soft-open tonight on Windward Avenue in one of Venice’s oldest original buildings. In a space that looks like Danny’s without the gee-gaws and murals, Dry Tour shares the side of this block with Larry’s and Townhouse Cocktails, just steps from the beach. Coming from wine lover and general manager Arron Turnbull and partner Jessica Zacholl, Dry Tour is planning on serving lunch and dinner with a focus on wines but refrains from the kind of name “that would probably come out of some corporate focus group,” as the duo say on their website.

Browsing the menus, Dry Tour looks to be combining some of L.A.’s favorite foods du jour, with such dishes as Peruvian causa and papas huancaina joining lamb and veggie spud mashes from a potato bar, braised pork shoulder with pickles and pepper jam in a panini section, small plates of gougeres, local greens, and ceviche, seared ahi, modern arrangements of supper club throwbacks like braised short rib Wellington, and of course, our old friends, charcuterie and cheese. The restaurant tells Yo! that it will only be at 75% of its capabilities during tonight’s soft-open, which starts at 6:00 P.M.
