On August 1, Haven Gastropub in Pasadena will open a new lunchtime restaurant-within-a-restaurant called Burger Haven. Chef and fighter-for-foie, Greg Daniels, tells Grub Street that Haven's backroom will come into play as its own individual entity, with a separate entrance found in the adjoined alley. This won't be the place to order Daniels' duck confit poutine or rabbit legs, but a casual concept specializing in burgers and sandwiches from the chef and his chef de cuisine, Marc Johnson, with ingredients including two-year aged Grafton cheese and corn-flake crusted chicken, served with craft beer and Nutter-Butter milkshakes from pastry chef Santanna Salas, she of the famous foie gras cheesecake. Further details are forthcoming, while Burger Haven already has a Facebook account, with no current mention of the concept, which will be open from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., drifting over to Haven's address in Orange just yet.
