Eagle Rock Patch drops a dime on Little Beast, a new restaurant lead by husband and wife team Sean Lowenthal, formely the executive chef at Boulder's Greenbriar Inn and currently sous chef at Chateau Marmont, and Deborah Schwartz. For six months, the couple has been looking for restaurant space to shelter their rustic U.S. concept in the northeast, even finding and losing one address in the area. Until they solidify their brick-and-mortar plans, they are marching the road of independence oft traveled in recent years. Starting next week, these partners will begin popping up on various Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in Eagle Rock's Le Petit Beaujolais under the Little Beast name.

From 5:00 to 10:00 P.M. next Tuesday and Wednesday, Lowenthal will debut a five-course a la carte "teaser" menu of dishes priced at ten dollars or less, including pan-roasted chicken with butternut squash and charred long beans, a crab cucumber salad in sweet corn veloute, and a hazelnut chocolate brownie with charred meringue and dulce de leche. Photos of the dishes are on the website of Little Beast, which is named for Deborah's ten-year-old son, Miles, who may even be tasked with serving the amuse bouche when the pop-up begins (score one for Newt Gingrinch).

The couple plan to use their Facebook account, which shows the little beast at play, to update people on their subsequent dates, currently looking to the second week of August for two nights with a new menu. Reservations can be made by email on the pop-up's website.
