Salad-centric Chop Stop, which has so far thrived in two Valley locations, opened up in the big city on Saturday, and plans its grand-opening ribbon-cutting ceremony here in West Hollywood, planned at 6:00 P.M. this Tuesday. The event will be attended by owner Mark Kulkis, along with WeHo mayor Jeffrey Prang, and City Council-member/mayoral fill-in, John “Duran” Duran. Chop Stop makes salads the owner says you can “eat with a spoon” they come so damned chopped, as well as wraps and a brand-new, customizable option called Chopurrito bowls.

f course, they’d be wise to bring Dorito’s onto the bench, but the budding chain is all about a healthy approach to eating. We’ll be busy consuming something much crappier for ourselves, no doubt, but the owner promises “all members of the media” a free Chop salad or Chopurrito. So get thee to a Kinko’s, free-loading forgers, if you don’t have your own blog yet (with an accompanying side of sciatica). Everyone else, media or not, gets free parking at Hancock and Santa Monica Blvd., and who knows, maybe a photo with the WeHo city council member of your dreams, if you’re lucky.

Chop Stop, 8717 Santa Monica Blvd. West Hollywood; 424-274-3500.
