Waaay back in the early days of the city's nouveau food truck boom, some enterprising folks tried to assemble the Santa Monica Food Truck Lot at 14th Street and Santa Monica Blvd. in one of the very first gatherings of its kind. After more than 1,000 people descended on it, the city quickly shut it down over health and safety concerns. Today, the determined little-lot-that-could springs back to life after two years, this time with full city approval in place. Called the "Hump Day Lot," you can catch up to six trucks serving each Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. and again in the evening from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M., along with live music, indoor seating, and (yes!) booze.
