The Chain Gang

Will In-N-Out Burger Cave To Vegan Pressure?

Just because you’ve gone meatless doesn’t mean you’re no longer haunted by your favorite fast food memories. L.A. vegan Ari Solomon is so frustrated at being denied the option to to eat at In-N-Out Burger over the years that he launched a Change.org petition. No, not to address global drought or alleviate childhood hunger, mind you, but to push the California burger chain to start serving a veggie burger that’s also fit for vegans.

Solomon swears his campaign is not just to crush his cravings for a Double-Double, but “to be healthier and do right by the environment.” Considering nothing but the lettuce and onions really fit the bill on In-N-Out’s terse and timeless menu, it doesn’t make a lot of sense for the chain to have to spend time and money developing vegan buns, patties, and a special sauce just to end up with something sub-par to its signatures. The petition already has the half the support its seeking, but only time will tell if the chain ever introduces its first “Animal Free-style.”
