Joe’s Pizza Spreading to Two New Stores and A Truck

Last we left Giuseppe Vitale’s Brooklyn export, Joe’s Pizza, it was grappling with a tangled trademark infringement lawsuit filed by Pino Pozzuoli’s Famous Joe’s Pizza, which used to employ Vitale, who eventually married into the family, before Vitale branded his own “Famous Joe’s of Bleecker’s Street,” reminding people of a beloved, now-shuttered legend that he didn’t even start (you can read the court’s decision here). For a moment, it was kind of like the Gordon Ramsay-Chris Hutchenson legal battle of the continental U.S. pizza world.

Fast-forward to today, and it appears none of that may really matter, as Joe’s (now minus the “Original” and “Bleecker Street” tags) announces an expansion to three new L.A. locations this fall. Two are destined for Westfield Mall, the Sherman Oaks and Century City locations, opening respectively this September and October. At the end of next month, Joe’s will also hit the road in a new Joe’s Pizza Truck that will offer pies and slices, traceable through Twitter @joespizzatruck.
