City Sip reopens tonight in Echo Park, revealing a new spread of snacks, salads, and sandwiches designed by Reservoir chef Gloria Felix (think tofu lettuce wraps with banh mi profiles, giant pretzles, grilled cheese, jicama tacos, and peanut butter brownies), draft beers, and wines by the glass that will be spelled out nightly on a hand-written board as the selection plans to shift regularly.
Better suited to an era in which people earn the bulk of their life knowledge from E! and MTV, the wine bar is losing its lectures in an attempt to get its groove back and be less of a stick-in-the-mud, offering big couches for guests to concentrate on shedding brain cells and meeting neighbors over a glass. Owner Nicole Daddio promises classes will be revived at a later date in the back room and a game-oriented happy hour is also coming. The new look will be revealed at 6:00 P.M. tonight.
