Jon Shook Still Eating at Chick-Fil-A

The chefs at Animal love their fried chicken sandwiches. Over two years ago, Vinny Dotolo waxed about his obsession with Bakesale Betty’s buttermilk fried bird on ACME bread for Grub Street, then he introduced his own epic version at Son of a Gun with partner Jon Shook. In an interview with Zagat today, Shook reveals that he’s still eating Chick-Fil-A’s famous version despite its controversial stance on marriage equality, sharing his fondness for a #1 with a sweet tea. Like a lot of rich lefties, the chef is apparently pretty liberal except when it applies to his own backyard, telling the blog he doesn’t “support the anti-gay marriage thing, but they do make a good chicken sandwich,” overlooking the fact that giving someone your money is still a form of material support, if not a philosophical one.

Clearly, the man needs to counter his support of homophobic chicken with the purchase of some Chick-Fil-A off-set coupons, that is, if Chick-Fil-A is indeed still strutting its intolerant message.

Nonetheless, the chef’s funding of a hateful fast food chain still doesn’t offend us nearly as much as the number one fast food indulgence he confesses to loving: a burrito at Chipotle. The horror…
