Last we checked in on Santa Monica’s Taqueria Chihuahua, the taco shop that’s lived at a couple of local addresses in its 30-year-career, its latest Lincoln Blvd. location was endangered by a vestigial location of Walgreen’s. So far, the forced move has come to naught. Now Yo! Venice! reports that Chihuahua is planning a new location in Marina del Rey, taking over the shuttered Viva Mexican Grill, rounding out a strip mall that already has strong Persian and Thai restaurants with $1.50 tacos de cabeza, tacos dorados, lengua-packed burritos, and even cheeseburgers, for whoever it is that goes to Mexican restaurants with burgers in mind.

This new MDR store is expected to open in a few weeks, while most locals are still eagerly awaiting word on the return of the structure’s dearly departed Aunt Kizzy’s.
