Today Wolfgang Puck shares a look at what he considers the very best restaurants in the world with The Telegraph, offering the quick warning to all overbearing waiters: “I’m old enough to make my own mind up.” Puck picks Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck for its “inventiveness,” L’Oustau de Baumanière in the south of France where he used to work, Ducasse’s Le Louis XV in Monaco, and Steiereck, which he calls “Austria’s best restaurant.” Back home in L.A., Puck credits Matsuhisa “because it’s like wearing a great cashmere sweater,” and wouldn’t you know it, ends the list with his own Spago. Yes, it’s rare to read a Wolfgang Puck interview in which the chef doesn’t big up his own places and projects. But hey, it works. [Telegraph]
