The Perry Street chef says his restaurant, which is one hundred feet from the Hudson, was hit by five and a half feet of water, and the surge destroyed his kitchen. While they’re still deep in the process of replacing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment, Vongerichten says that if Perry Street cannot reopen for New Year’s Eve, it’ll definitely be back in business by January 15. Also, like everyone else, he calls his dad “Jean-Georges.” [Eater NY]
