It’s a perfect time to be on the fresh-pressed juice bandwagon, as a new depot for the stuff seems to open every week, owned by kitchen-vets, experimentalists, celebrities, and famous nutritionists alike. Today, a new one from hospitality group Cardiff Giant named Clover opens on La Brea, and it seeks to be a little different from its ilk.
Clover not only offers the expected cold-pressed nectars made from market fruit and veggies, but also serves Stumptown coffee, salads and snacks from Flore Vegan in Silver Lake, vegan and gluten-free pastries by Charm City Cakes’ Lauren Lobley, kombucha on tap, and a menu of sandwiches from Bruce Kalman, the Spiaggia-vet who opened The Misfit and is currently cooking at the Churchill.
The result is sort of a super-group of super-foods, providing a one-stop shop for diet-adhering dining instead of just a line of organic liquids, served in a cool space of subway tiles, benches, and a shifting selection of street art.
