Wine geeks, take note: A major changing of the guard is at hand. Antonio Galloni, who has been a critic for Robert Parker’s extremely influential magazine The Wine Advocate since 2006, is busting out on his own next month with a new web-based publication, AntonioGalloni.com, aimed at younger wine consumers.
Galloni tells the New York Times that he wants to “disseminate information in a continual flow rather than in big, massive articles that are too massive for people to digest.” In other words, it’s going to be more like a blog and less like Parker’s thirty-year-old, bimonthly print publication, which publishes thousands of reviews at a time covering the entire wine world. The news follows on Parker’s December announcement that he was stepping down as editor-in-chief of the Advocate and selling a stake to a Singapore investor. Lisa Perotti-Brown, another reviewer, was named editor-in-chief and will be based in Singapore.
