By now everybody should know that if they mess with Red Medicine, the restaurant will bite back. More than two years after the Beverly Hills Vietnamese concept ousted and exposed L.A. Times food critic S. Irene Virbila for expressing her opinions in a critical take-down of chef Jordan Kahn’s desserts at XIV, vengeful co-owner Noah Ellis is now taking on no-shows. This past Saturday, he went on a Twitter tear, sarcastically thanking patrons and mentioning them by name for not showing up to their reserved seats. In a ramble about his recently revised booking policy, the partner tells Eater, “Invariably, the assholes who decide to no-show, or cancel 20 minutes before their reservation (because one of their friends made a reservation somewhere else) ruin restaurants (as a whole) for the people who make a reservation and do their best to honor it.” Of course, not everyone is ecstatic that the restaurant is again making waves by publicly mortifying its clientele. But hey, if it makes getting a table at the gripping restaurant any easier on a weekend, we’re all for Ellis’ latest offensive.
