It looks like our local breweries are attempting to pull some sort of reconquista on Cinco de Drinko next weekend. Next Saturday, May 4, Angel City Brewing is holding its first big public shindig since last year’s reboot, holding what it calls a “Heritage Festival” to celebrate the Downtown community and its ongoing renaissance.
From 11:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., catch Angel City offering free entry to its brewery and parking lot to showcase its brews through tours and pours, with some help from Seoul Sausage and Peddler’s Creamery, seven live bands, and a t-shirt silk-screening station, with part of the profits going to Art Share LA. The brewery will also offer an art show featuring local works, called “In Your Face: How Artists Transformed LA’s Urban Landscape.” And that’s not all.
Kicking off just two hours later, Tony Yanow of Tony’s Darts Away, Mohawk Bend, and Golden Road Brewing is holding the fourth annual L.A. Vegan Beer Fest, this year at The Roxy Theater. California and national brewers joining the four hour event include Sierra Nevada, Hangar 24, Triple Voodoo, and North Coast, among others, who will each offer unlimited pours of beer for your $40 ticket ($50 the day of, $10 more for VIP, which gets you in at noon), with designated drivers getting in for $15 ($20 the day of).
What do designated drivers get? A verifiable fuck-load of carnage-free food, offered by names like Mandoline Grill, Mohawk bend, and Cafe Gratitude. Live music will also be on hand, by legendary bands like Vegan Boss and Janks.
