Jonathan Peters, the Texas-bred chef at Palihouse, tells Grub Street of his plans to throw a benefit barbecue next Sunday, April 14 at Donwtonw’s Tony’s Saloon with former Church & State chef Greg Bernhard and former Fig chef de cuisine James Trees. The trio is coming together to raise funds for artist Roman Dirge, a close friend of Peters’ who nearly lost a leg following one of L.A.’s epidemic hit and runs and is uninsured. The three chefs are uniting at Tony’s from noon to 5:00 P.M. and asking guests for a $20 donation that will help pay for Dirge’s medical bills. In return, guests will indulge in a plate of traditional barbecue including pulled pork, chopped beef, or brisket with beans, cole slaw, white bread, and pickles. All the while, Tony’s will be open and serving. [Facebook]
