What Mark Gold Is Cooking at Chez Soi, Now Serving Manhattan Beach

Mark Gold is not only back from vacation after closing down his West Hollywood restaurant, Eva, but he already has a new gig. Gold is now cooking at Chez Soi, which just cracked its doors last night to Manhattan Beach's Metlox Plaza under a partnership between former Fraiche owner Thierry Perez and Ty Burrell, the bumbling brunette who heads the Dunphy household in Modern Family. While Gold is in the kitchen preparing market-sourced dishes like wood-grilled octopus with crispy fingerlings and espelette and chestnut flour pasta with wild chanterelles, the cocktail program is under the direction of Bar X, a mixology hub from Mormonville, with classic cocktails and an embrace of the growing trend of house-made vermouth.

Grand-opening next Tuesday, April 9, Chez Soi inhabits a 5,900 square-foot space that press reps tell us features a wraparound outdoor patio, open kitchen, and a copper bar countered with fancy chandeliers and recycled wood. Check out the full menu, below.
