Del Frisco’s Grille, the more casual off-shoot of Dallas-based Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, is opening up in the former location of Il Fornaio on Santa Monica’s Ocean Avenue this July. A company marketing director tells Grub Street it will be a professionally staffed restaurant from a company that controls 35 restaurants nationwide, cast in a similar sort of vein as Hillstone’s, bearing both a sophisticated sheen and a casual dress-code befitting of a restaurant across from The Pier and beach. Del Frisco’s concept, which offers creative comfort eats like ahi tacos, Nutella bread pudding, pimento cheese fritters, veal meatloaf, steaks, lamb sliders, and cheesesteak egg rolls, won a “Hot Concepts Award” from Nation’s Restaurant News last year. The Santa Monica outpost, which will be Del Frisco’s seventh in addition to New York, DC, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, and Phoenix locations, intends to feature a patio with ocean views, a 500 bottle-strong wine wall, proprietary cocktails, and shots on tap. Check out the New York location’s full menu right here.
