BLD Pairing Ham With Whiskey on April 25

Next Thursday, April 25, Neal Fraser's Mid-City restaurant BLD is hosting a dinner dedicated to the pleasures of U.S. whiskey and ham. How manly! For the evening, Fraser is offering a $55 four-course meal, with each dish paired to a dram from Heaven Hill Distilleries, which counts Elijah Craig, Fighting Cock, and Rittenhouse Rye among its stable. The feast begins with a flight of ham and whiskey samples before moving on to biscuits and ham served with house-made butter, poppyseed coleslaw, and a Kentucky Fizz cocktail with Elijah Craig 12-year. The centerpiece is a main course cassoulet prepared with red wattle pork shoulder country ham and served aside a Rittenhouse-based Sazerac. And wouldn't you know it? There will be grown-up doughnuts from Mariah Swan, glazed with bourbon caramel, and paired with candied ham and bourbon pecan ice cream. Reservations can be made at 323-930-9744.
