Relief for ramen fans will arrive this week at West L.A.’s Tsujita Artisan Noodle, as the tonkotsu and tsukemen specialist announces on Facebook that it will open its ramen-focused Tsujita Annex this Thursday in the former home of Miyata Menji, across the street from its first U.S. location. Until now, Tsujita’s noodles were only to be found during lunch, meaning you’d be lucky if you got there ahead of the rush only to be hurried through every slurp by the scorching stares of a few dozen Epicanthic folds with designs on your table. But Tsujita, in its typically very deliberate way, isn’t making it that easy for everyone to get in over the first few days. In fact, it may not even be serving the same ramen at both locations.
To celebrate this Thursday’s opening, Tsujita is only allowing in guests who have been invited from April 25-28. You just have to “Like” these guys on Facebook and send an email “Asking for invitation” to procure one. The restaurant will then reply with a formal invitation and ask you to bring a printout or screen-shot of the invite. The invite is good for repeat visits over those four dates, but if you don’t have one, you’re out of luck. Also, the first ten people to show up for lunch and dinner will get a free ramen dish.
Tsujita explains on Facebook that the Annex is intended to show appreciation to the people who have made its first foray into the U.S. a success and tempts diners with the promise of a “different style of ramen” at the Annex.
