The Happiest Hours on Earth

Circa Blows The Whistle For Happy Hour

The M.O. of most Manhattan Beach happy hours is fairly simple: Get ‘em in, get ‘em pickled, and get ‘em out. Circa is being a little more structured and selective for its new afternoon drinking deal, to be known as The “5’ O’Clock Whistle.” The first fifteen people to get to the door at 5:00 P.M. receive a time-card like the one you see above. If you’ve never had the repeated pleasures of clocking in, it’s like a flimsier version of the stone slab Fred Flintstone punches everyday at the quarry. The card lists several items from Circa’s bar menu, including duck confit tacos, wood-grilled oysters, and arancini. If you’re one of the first fifteen coming in, you pick five of the listed dishes and get them for a combined price of $20, while your server punches holes in the card to track your order.

A little Byzantine for getting blasted? Perhaps. But a deal’s a deal.

The offer is available from 5:00 to 6:30 P.M. daily, along with $5 punch, wine, and beer specials and does not include a call from your boss five minutes into your third stiff one to command you back to cover the night shift.
