Sometime in mid-March, we heard confident rumors that former Citrus, Bacara, and Cafe Pierre chef Remi Lauvand was splitting with Le Ka, the international concept he helped to open in Downtown last fall with Wokcano owners Michael and Marcus Kwan. At the time, reps for the restaurant hid their head in the sand and didn’t confirm or deny the loose talk, amid speculation that Remi’s role was being re-cast as a “consulting chef.”** Today, it appears that Lauvand has been mostly scrubbed from Le Ka’s website and Facebook. In his place, David Feau, another hugely talented French chef known for his cooking at Patina and The Royce, is now being named as the restaurant’s executive chef. A chef of Feau’s caliber most likely deserves a check-in from diners previously split on Le Ka’s ambitions and execution. Meanwhile, there’s no specific update on Lauvand’s activities, though he recently tweeted condolences for the late Jonathan Winters while enjoying coffee in Montecito and appears to be tinkering with a lot of new recipes. Hmmm…

**A representative for the restaurant from Bread & Butter Public Relations writes Grub Street to say that, “Remi Lauvand is still partnered and consulting with Michael and Marcus Kwan and is working on new projects for the group” and that “David Feau is currently the consulting partner/chef with Le Ka, not Executive Chef.”
