A two-alarm fire tore through Los Gatos restaurant Manresa in the early morning hours of July 7, decimating one of country’s most well-regarded restaurants and leaving David Kinch without a kitchen. Repairs were expected to take four to five months, so the chef used the incident, which caused a reported $400,000 worth of damage, to rethink the business. “It’s a chance to reflect on how we do things, and how we might want to do things differently, and a little bit better,” he told Grub in October.

Today, Kinch released a statement opening up reservations for the restaurant’s first comeback dinner, auspiciously taking place on New Year’s Eve — and it’s already sold out. Dinner service at the “next chapter at Manresa” will resume on January 2. “The past is almost behind us and we look forward to welcoming you all in 2015,” he wrote.
